play Golf Story instead.Ī 4-missions-long prequel DLC with 2 new playable characters that clearly has been designed for co-op play, this time containing more lore in form of longer cutscenes and text documents, it doesn't necessarily explain everything but if you want to know more about the world of Aragami, there you have it. But if you're looking for a robust single-player golf adventure. If you want to play a standard round of golf with your friends, then this game is a great option. merely satisfactory, I guess? There are six of them, and while they're competent, they don't come anywhere near the creative heights of Toadstool Tour or World Tour. Evidently, your character is a seven-year-old who has been sucking down helium. And your Mii character is the worst offender. But if they've got six pages of dialogue, then you get stuck with Koopa Troopa making six annoying little grunts and wheeeeees!. ⛔ Every time a character speaks, you get a cutesy little sound effect. ⛔ Special demerits to the cross country golfing section, which is just abysmal. Especially when your tiny little stamina meter is always hovering around empty (and you're on the freaking clock!). I guess you can beat up the other players or something, but I never really delved into that, because there is no joy in it. ⛔ Also, the game actually makes you chase the ball after you hit it. The game's subtitle is "Super Rush" for good reason, as you are almost always on the clock while playing. The worst part about the adventure is that you rarely get to play any good old-fashioned golf. a golfing tournament, you get whisked away to another location. Each course introduces some kind of new mechanic, but whenever it seems like this should amount to something like. and then after about an hour, that plot point is abandoned and you just meander from one course to the next solving the local mysteries (with Wario and a very dapper-looking Waluigi).

⛔ Adventure Mode is a single-player "story" that sees you, a lowly rookie, set out on a quest to become a pro. Motoi Sakuraba didn't go out of his way to craft an aural masterpiece. You can't really say anything bad about it it's just there. ✅ The graphics aren't going to blow you away, but they're nice enough. Adding backspin/topspin to the ball is much easier, and the amount of control you have during the backswing can, in theory, allow you to weave around obstacles. But once you get past that, the new swinging meter is vastly improved. Some of the changes are a little jarring at first most notably, you can't follow the ball's projected path with the C-stick before you swing anymore, so there's a bit more guesswork into the amount of power you want to put into a swing.

✅ At their core, the golfing mechanics are the best they've ever been.
